Nicolas Anelka is undergoing a medical at West Brom ahead of his proposed return to the Premier League.

Sky sources understand the French striker will sign a two-year deal at Albion following an unhappy spell in Chinese football.

Anelka left Chelsea for Shanghai Shenhua in January 2012 but joined Juventus on loan during this year's transfer window.

A move to The Hawthorns would reunite him with Steve Clarke, the Albion manager who was still a coach at Chelsea when the striker arrived at the start of 2008.

Anelka, 34, has played for 10 clubs in his career and West Brom now look likely to be his sixth in England.

West Brom midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu has penned a new two-year contract with the club, with a further option for a third year.

The DR Congo international has been a key player for the Baggies since joining from Paris Saint-Germain in 2009 and has been rewarded with a new and improved deal.

"This is good news for everyone connected with West Bromwich Albion," said manager Steve Clarke.

"Youssouf is a talented player and the fact he is willing to sign a contract extension shows we're doing the right thing as a club.
